Jaris Transportation Benefits of Navman Wireless
“The amount we've saved by curbing unauthorized use alone pays for our Navman Wireless system."
Jaris Transportation Benefits of Navman Wireless
Payroll Costs
- Since children are picked up in the early morning, vans are kept at the drivers' homes. Though it was easy to verify pick-up and drop-off times through parents or the schools, drivers could inaccurately report the times they left and returned home.
- Jaris now uses Navman GPS tracking to determine start/stop times versus handwritten time sheets. The company has reduced payroll costs by almost an hour per day per vehicle.
-
There are 2 people on each vehicle: a driver who makes $14 per hour and an aide who makes $8 hour- for a savings of $22 per day, or $110 per week for each of their 35 vehicles.
Fuel Costs
- Since employees retain the vehicles at home, unauthorized personal use was also an issue. Drivers are required NOT to use the vehicles from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., as well as after-hours.
- By placing Geofences around each driver's home, Jaris is alerted whenever the vehicle arrives or leaves. Activity Reports allow the company to closely monitor usage. Unauthorized use quickly came to a halt.
-
By curbing misuse of vehicles, Jaris has realized a savings of $7,000 per month in fuel savings alone- and average of $200 per vehicle. This doesn't even take into account the potential legal liability in the event of an accident.
Additional Benefits
- With Navman's Overspeed Report, Jaris knows right away when a driver is exceeding the speed limits.
- GPS navigation enables Jaris to route drivers to their destination without having them on the route. Directions to any location are at a driver's fingertips instantly.
- Activity Reports enable the company to verify when a child was picked up or dropped off.
- In the event of a breakdown, Jaris uses GPS tracking and Navman's messaging capabilities to dispatch the nearest bus to the exact location, maximizing service to the children and the school district.
